Utopian (way to show your talent)No, I didn't have to use a thesaurus to find an apt word for today's post. -shifty eyes-<br /><br /><br />Sorry that, once again, I have been more than slightly MIA. I was excited (very excited, actually) that it was summer and I would a.) have time to furiously scour the internet to find b.) interesting things to share with you all.<br /><br />And theeeeen, the unfortunate, the disastrous, the terrible, the terrifying thing happened and....my laptop died. So, until I end up getting to the city to take it to the 'Mac Doc', I'm using the family's computer. Which means less time for scouring and posts. I know, it's a sad, sad thing. :(<br /><br />But! Enough sadness! I come bearing a post! And fun things! Artsy things!<br /><br />While doing my obligatory Tumblr check I stumbled across <a href="http://www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject">The Sketchbook Project</a>.<br /><br />Essentially what the project is is this: a global community of people filling personal sketchbooks that will then be put on tour to the places indicated on the map. Afterward, the sketchbooks will be placed in the <a href="http://brooklynbased.net/email/2011/02/sketchbooks-not-shhhhs-at-brooklyn-art-library/">Brooklyn Art Library</a> for anyone to view.<br /><br />At the site, you can pick one of forty themes and your sketchbook is to follow that theme to wherever it takes you. As well, there is the option to have them send you a random theme, which will arrive with your sketchbook.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.arthousecoop.com/images/projects/sketchbookproject/map.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 532px; height: 583px;" src="http://www.arthousecoop.com/images/projects/sketchbookproject/map.png" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Honestly, it sounds like so much fun and I'm seriously contemplating doing it, if only because I'd love to start getting back into doing things like this (I used to all the time before I started going to college) and I think it would be the kick to get back into it.<br /><br />I hope some of you decide to do this project, and if you do, let me know and how it goes for you!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-74231626088032818422011-05-11T19:20:00.000-07:002011-05-13T13:21:01.916-07:00U is for ... Unusual (Cameras) While boredly going through my Twitter feed this morning, I saw that <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/NylonMag">@NylonMag </a>had a link to some 'interesting' cameras. And because I'm a devourer of cameras, I clicked the link. (Bet you didn't see that coming, did ya?)<div>
<br /></div><div> The <a href="http://www.nylonmag.com/?section=article&parid=6304">slideshow</a> is composed of 8 different cameras of various prices (from <a href="http://www.lomography.com/magazine/reviews/2010/11/02/disderi-3-lens-robot-camera-small-but-functional">$18</a> - <a href="http://www.fourcornerstore.com/products/necono-digital-cat-camera">$180</a>). Though, I'm not<i> entirely </i>and <i>utterly</i> sorry because I was off having family time and loads of fun with them, which was what I needed. <i>However</i>, I'm now back, have caught up with <i>most</i> of the blogs/people/messages/e-mails/etc that have piled up in my departure and now I get to post! (Which was the part I was <i>really</i> looking forward to doing. :D)<div><ol><li><a href="http://poormichaelsbooks.ca/">Poor Michael's Bookshop</a> - In the small, tourist-y town of Onanole, Manitoba there's this jewel of a book store. Second hand books in the front and cafe/fair trade shop in the back, music plays while the locals chat over their favourite cups of coffee. I got the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/53804389@N04/5682767470/in/photostream/">green bracelet</a> while my dad got the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/53804389@N04/5682764336/in/photostream/">dancing frog candle holder</a> (he has this thing for frogs, IDEK), my sisters got bracelets and earrings, and my mother a ring. Then there was the ridiculously cute <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/53804389@N04/5682198333/in/photostream/">finger puppets.</a> :) All in all: any time possible, I will be haunting this delightful treasure. The best part? We caught it on it's one open time during the off season for Easter weekend! </li><li><a href="http://www.scaanphoto.com/">Scott Caan Photography</a> - Okay, okay, okay. I know I've done nothing but <a href="http://yiellysalphabet.blogspot.com/2011/04/l-is-for-things-i-love.html">talk</a> <a href="http://yiellysalphabet.blogspot.com/2011/04/l-is-for-things-i-love-part-iii.html">about</a> him (okay, this is only my third post with him included), but! For very good reason: this man is ridiculously, brilliantly, mind blowingly talented (and needs to shoot in colour more often). In that way where I actually want to go shooting with the man other than drool all over him because he takes beautiful pictures. And not just of things I actually expected. For the most part, his pictures have depth to them, which is something I'm always looking for in a fellow photographer, so I was more than pleasantly surprised. Some of my favourites:</li><a href="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/lany_140.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 480px; height: 318px;" src="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/lany_140.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/caan_02.92.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 479px; height: 318px;" src="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/caan_02.92.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/caan_02.75.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 479px; height: 318px;" src="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/caan_02.75.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/caan_02.158.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 206px; height: 318px;" src="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/la_ny/caan_02.158.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/international/intl_156.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 480px; height: 318px;" src="http://www.scaanphoto.com/source/content/sections/international/intl_156.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><li><a href="http://www.missmoss.co.za/2010/06/27/homemade-nutella/">Homemade Nutella</a> - Found via <a href="http://anthologymag.com/">Anthology</a>, they posted about this (surprisingly!) simple recipe for homemade nutella. (Things I) Love (Part III)<div style="text-align: left;">I'm a little late this Sunday. Mostly because my roommates and I spent the majority of the day cleaning our dorm. And I hope you all have a fantastic week coming up. :) I know mine's going to be fairly lovely because, well, I get to go home on Wednesday. Which means I really have to buckle down tomorrow and Tuesday to have everything packed and ready to move to my new place. Gack! So exciting!</div><div>

LightingIf there's one thing that I've learned this year, it's that having a camera either draws people to you in a moth to flame sort of way, or else it repels them from you in a mouse to snake type of way. For the most part, mine's been the former over the latter, which I've been quite grateful for.<br /><br />Last week, I had a lighting - effects assignment due. Of course, it was left slightly to last minute and I had to find something,<span style="font-style: italic;"> anything</span> to take pictures. And then, I remembered: the night before it was due, the school was hosting its last pub of the year. So I made my way over, crossed my fingers that security would let me go in with my camera (since it's not a point and shoot, they normally don't), and tried a new trick I had learned two weeks before:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOw1_6ZN_2dB1nlYJ9icW_b4Po3FBHQMfK601qLacN5A0XXxblaceJwbqtSfjbZE3lb5w7rRhUybihdThRu1qXO2yvVbEHCJPP7QOrnEjX7-SZJzxWFmWOZ7xLUmHMco3F0ZWmKkQ8n2vM/s1600/IMG_4898.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOw1_6ZN_2dB1nlYJ9icW_b4Po3FBHQMfK601qLacN5A0XXxblaceJwbqtSfjbZE3lb5w7rRhUybihdThRu1qXO2yvVbEHCJPP7QOrnEjX7-SZJzxWFmWOZ7xLUmHMco3F0ZWmKkQ8n2vM/s320/IMG_4898.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593441171854543858" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi4twiCUxj61bB53qlQMMoa_EK_ypAE_w__iUw195qGohngsXXqbySRww6ejT6gw0viXpWaLO3k6yzyZsRqPhsciKRyRb4BO2DTr2YJVT6tLIYeUIFGAwZWnt5CSvVXpz0BeMxgYghDPR8/s1600/IMG_4897.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi4twiCUxj61bB53qlQMMoa_EK_ypAE_w__iUw195qGohngsXXqbySRww6ejT6gw0viXpWaLO3k6yzyZsRqPhsciKRyRb4BO2DTr2YJVT6tLIYeUIFGAwZWnt5CSvVXpz0BeMxgYghDPR8/s320/IMG_4897.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593441170196018994" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">This was the one I handed in. Emma Watson was actually a <span style="font-style: italic;">huge</span> inspiration for my cut, though I obviously didn't go as short as she did. :)Thank you for your lovely compliment. I really do adore having it short.<br /><br /><b>avalonne hall:</b> Thank you. :) I've really been enjoying reading/commenting on your blog. Roman Holiday was such a good look hair wise for Audrey Hepburn. Not that she couldn't pull of <span style="font-style: italic;">anything</span> she wanted to, but *g* the short hair suited her so well. It was really interesting, because after my cut, I got a list of people that others were reminded of: Agnes Deyn, Emma Watson, Rihanna, and Natalie Portman were on the list. All of which I'm really okay with reminding people of. :) I was really close to enough length, but I didn't feel like waiting. No patience, apparently. :P<br /><br />This fall I actually had dyed my hair blue (!!!) and got it fixed over Christmas. The colour right now is the browny red I had to dye it. My hair's naturally red, so think I'm just going to dye the tips of it something wild (cherry red/platinum blonde/blue/etc)<br /></blockquote>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-138798178427195792011-04-05T23:38:00.000-07:002011-04-06T00:04:18.332-07:00L is for ... Until I watched <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0775489/">L'illusionniste</a>. The story is essentially about a stage magician who moves from France to Britain (England, then Scotland, more specifically) in search of work, and meets a girl who decides to tag along. And it is when it moves to Scotland, to Edinburgh, that it became a visual treat for me and gave me this unending urge to visit the city. Here are some screen caps of my favourite moments of Edinburgh in the movie: </div><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/one.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/two.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/three.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/four.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/five.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/six.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/shine_shine/Yiellys%20Alphabet/seven.jpg" /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH2lbGynHl2cefGWedw1kk7LaeuIv1yh0MRqwPCIhcv8nNBKHbOqVtaI9Pcop-kBkqUFhi2MsZK1MhPJ7O0QqM_nsmwGIGdqWB5Ah183RRWd-6WDDR3PMpffHMtdzUMVtrNXfmNRiHd6zZ/s1600/dude.jpg"></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH2lbGynHl2cefGWedw1kk7LaeuIv1yh0MRqwPCIhcv8nNBKHbOqVtaI9Pcop-kBkqUFhi2MsZK1MhPJ7O0QqM_nsmwGIGdqWB5Ah183RRWd-6WDDR3PMpffHMtdzUMVtrNXfmNRiHd6zZ/s1600/dude.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 212px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH2lbGynHl2cefGWedw1kk7LaeuIv1yh0MRqwPCIhcv8nNBKHbOqVtaI9Pcop-kBkqUFhi2MsZK1MhPJ7O0QqM_nsmwGIGdqWB5Ah183RRWd-6WDDR3PMpffHMtdzUMVtrNXfmNRiHd6zZ/s400/dude.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591505908257964226" border="0" /></a>Rizzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07493808292313526706noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-60912640459388194462011-04-03T15:42:00.000-07:002011-04-03T16:02:20.417-07:00L is for ... (Things I) LoveI wasn't going to post anything today, and then ran into a few things in the last few hours that I wanted to share. I'm thinking this may turn into a weekly thing. We'll see. :)<br /><br /><br />1.) <a href="http://yfrog.com/17tyrz">This video</a> updated by <a href="http://twitter.com/#%21/TrekMovie">@TrekMovie</a>. It feels/sounds so happy and lively, very spring like.<br /><br />2.)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> <iframe title="YouTube video player" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WldsOu_4a8g" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="640"></iframe><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"> I don't know what it is about this commercial, but I <span style="font-style: italic;">adore</span> it. I think it's ever since I got short hair, I've been loving girls with short hair. And York Peppermint Patties are total ♥.<br /><br />3.)<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.google.ca/logos/2011/icecreamsundae11-hp.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 421px; height: 163px;" src="http://www.google.ca/logos/2011/icecreamsundae11-hp.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Today celebrates the 119th birthday of the first recorded Ice Cream Sunday. SHOULD ALWAYS BE CELEBRATED! :)<br /><br />4.) <a href="http://majobajo.blogspot.com/">MajoBajo</a>: another short haired girl I love seeing pop up. An adorable sense of fashion and lovely photographs to accompany all of her posts.<br /><br />5.) <a href="http://sandrajuto.blogspot.com/">Sandra Juto</a>: A favourite blogger of mine. Her photographs show her daily life in Berlin, and she talks about the small things she enjoys in life, which is something we can all take with us.<br /><br />6.) Scott Caan: my newest celebrity crush. Part of the Hawaii Five-O crew, I've been fangirling over him with my friend, Zed. This picture is my favourite that I've found this week. It combines two of my favourite things: Caan and photography. Doesn't get much better than that. ♥<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lixjthE7m81qci7lfo1_500.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 330px;" src="http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lixjthE7m81qci7lfo1_500.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />So concludes my post of favourite things of the week. LunchGrilled cheese sandwiches are one of my roommates' and my favourite things to make/eat. Not only are they super easy/cheap, but, hello! cheesy and delicious to boot. As college students, we really can't ask for much more.<br /><br />A few weeks ago, I had some vegetables that I wanted to get rid of, but didn't know what to make, so I incorporated them into the classic grilled cheese. While it may sound/look a bit odd, don't disregard it right away. It's actually surprisingly delicious and adds an interestingly quirky twist on a cheesy classic. :)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f178d32d1d46a5&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365004994345793023-1&zw"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f178d32d1d46a5&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365004994345793023-1&zw" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f178c34274a491&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365004915598950400-1&zw"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 399px;" src="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f178c34274a491&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365004915598950400-1&zw" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f178c9e7b8b8bc&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365004954192100783-1&zw"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 399px;" src="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f178c9e7b8b8bc&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365004954192100783-1&zw" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f17c2da57502e6&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365008646645484112-1&zw"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 399px;" src="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f17c2da57502e6&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365008646645484112-1&zw" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f17c2db3477bfa&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365008651623858176-1&zw"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 398px;" src="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f17c2db3477bfa&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365008651623858176-1&zw" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">After the tomatoes, I also put another layer of cheese on top.<br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f17c4444ed856f&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365008728058757120-1&zw"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 399px;" src="https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=574cc17b11&view=att&th=12f17c4444ed856f&attid=0.1&disp=inline&realattid=1365008728058757120-1&zw" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Then in the oven for a few minutes on Broil - Low. What [I've Found]While doing my daily blog check, I stumbled across <a href="http://northwindshore.blogspot.com/">North Wind Shore</a>'s newest blog post. It contained a lovely set of pictures by photographer Lieke Romeijn. Here are a few of my favourite from the set.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/files/gimgs/56_88844.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 333px;" src="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/files/gimgs/56_88844.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/files/gimgs/56_fefea.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 503px; height: 335px;" src="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/files/gimgs/56_fefea.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/files/gimgs/56_feafea.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 500px; height: 333px;" src="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/files/gimgs/56_feafea.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />The rest of the set can be found <a href="http://www.liekeromeijn.nl/index.php?/fotografie/dromen-en-wakker-worden/">here</a>. There's 32 other small groups of photos that he's taken, all of them breathtaking to look through. I just happen to be quite partial to redheads. :) (I could be biased, really. :p) Which one's your favourite?<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-83833132039850126602011-03-27T21:30:00.000-07:002011-03-27T21:46:46.364-07:00W is for .... Wild [is the] Wind<div>Hello! Long time no write but I'm back and I come bearing music. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">"<i>Wild is the Wind</i>" became one of my favourite songs when I heard used for the trailer for <i>Revolutionary Road. </i>The version used in that instance was the original recording by Nina Simone and I feel in love. Recently, however, I heard Esperanza Spalding's version and I can't decide which version I like better, and so I like both. The mood conveyed in both songs may be similar but there are these subtle differences that I enjoy noticing. What I've Been Up ToI can't believe that it's been a week since I've updated! I guess that's what happens when you're busy, eh?<br /><br />And boy, have I been busy! Shooting, shooting, thinking, thinking, shooting, thinking, as my teacher would put it. (With possibly a little more thinking and sleeping tossed in there... :D). Here's a few of the things that I've been busy with this past week (it probably would be a LOT more interesting if I had done separate posts for each of these, but, alas, time and not enough of it.)<br /><br />Monday was Advisory Board where the committee comes down to view our portfolio, take names, see what we're doing, give us advice. I got to see four members (out of the ten) and got some pretty good advice. That was considering that some of them could be fairly rude, from waht I was hearing. Yikes!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-style: italic;font-size:130%;" >Tuesday</span> <br /></div><br />We went to where I'm shooting my Multimedia assignment (at the store below), as well as try on clothes to rent for the fashion shoot I needed to do for Lighting class. Basically: Marina (the owner) is fantastic and I adore her to bits and pieces. Plus: her store is what I wish my closet was like (except where the clothes FIT me on a more regular basis. D:)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4IIjxgo0bcBBbutVNDLznkD9wHdFKnkNdvhqfZ5qATCrjmpm-zVx73jYYibr8R1sZXhiC1SBU7iKaoM2CDBoZXK99jB5jQZD6xNoDvT3A0s58c01HZPspU8BnUYnS3LUOmTbyBqGC9uT9/s1600/_MG_9144.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4IIjxgo0bcBBbutVNDLznkD9wHdFKnkNdvhqfZ5qATCrjmpm-zVx73jYYibr8R1sZXhiC1SBU7iKaoM2CDBoZXK99jB5jQZD6xNoDvT3A0s58c01HZPspU8BnUYnS3LUOmTbyBqGC9uT9/s320/_MG_9144.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588974758130201106" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz0-amA0MpSZo2L0V_lPC5XgV-EdnIHk4kKMwEi4kSdXx6DF9V26kBUh2DxPYNDV-2bJhvSdOlaN-nFyqp0VdSe-_mSsHOoNOWnlQLULzolu0Gl5qyhPdrtWKHLljAhYU4OeO606kadsAE/s1600/_MG_9139.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz0-amA0MpSZo2L0V_lPC5XgV-EdnIHk4kKMwEi4kSdXx6DF9V26kBUh2DxPYNDV-2bJhvSdOlaN-nFyqp0VdSe-_mSsHOoNOWnlQLULzolu0Gl5qyhPdrtWKHLljAhYU4OeO606kadsAE/s320/_MG_9139.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588974744692926834" border="0" /></a>The jacket that I hope to, one day, own. Weekends & To-Do ListsSorry for seemingly <span style="font-style: italic;">dropping off the face of the planet</span>. School has been nothing short of ridiculous with assignments/portfolio review board tomorrow morning/getting sources for articles/shooting video/etc. I've been out and about town<br /><br /> My friends and I have the running joke that I should be a professional to-do list maker because it's what I do all. the. time. About twice a day, if not more often. It's a crazy sounding thing, I know, but, it makes me feel so good to cross things off of a list. Makes it feel tangible and like I actually accomplished something. (Which, well, I did...)<br /><br /> Today's was kept short and sweet because: a.) it's Sunday and b.) the <s>month</s> week I've had has been ridiculous and I need to <span style="font-style: italic;">relax</span>.<br /><br /><ul><li>Do and hand in (late) assignment</li><li>Put together a portfolio for tomorrow's board</li><li>Update my blogs</li><li>Make/print off business cards/name card for tomorrow's board</li><li>Read</li></ul> And all of them have been completed! Now, what's left of my weekend can be spent leisurely, doing things like this:<br /><br />1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up:<br />Two letters<br />A frozen yogurt container<br />Five copies of <a href="http://www.nylonmag.com/">Nylon</a> and one copy of <a href="http://www.nylonguysmag.com/">NylonGuys</a><br />A blue dream catcher<br /><a href="http://www.amazon.ca/Brooklyn-Colm-Toibin/dp/0771085397/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1300653521&sr=8-1"><u>Brooklyn</u></a> by Colm Toibin<br /><br />2. How do you style your hair?<br />Wash and wear, I've got a natural wave.<br /><br />3. What are you wearing now?<br />Rolled up red&black fleece pj pants and a tank top. (It's Sunday, can you blame me?!)<br /><br /><br />4. What's your occupation?<br />Photojournalism student. Oooh, exciting, I know.<br /><br />5. What do you hear right now?<br />iTunes, on shuffle, now playing: Eminem - Lose Yourself<br /><br />6. Who was the last person you hugged?<br />.....JJ?<br /><br />7. What is/was for dinner?<br />Homemade chicken noodle soup. :)<br /><br />8. What did you do today?<br />Slept in, read some Nylon and <u>King, Queen, Knave</u> by Vladimir Nabokov (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King,_Queen,_Knave">info</a>, <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/King-Queen-Knave-Vladimir-Nabokov/dp/0679723404">buy</a>)<br /><br />9. Dog person or cat person?<br />Cat! I have three at home: Nike, Adidas, Geox. We're cool like that. :)<br /><br />10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?<br />If I abso-freaking-lutely had to? Ummmm.....Cecilia. (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atonement_%28novel%29">Atonement</a> is my favourite book, what can I say?)<br /><br />11. What was the last thing that you bought?<br />A bus ticket. And other than that? Food on Tuesday.<br /><br />12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?<br />EVERYWHERE! There really isn't a place I WOULDN'T go. (I am easy to please...or something.)<br /><br />13. Where do you see yourself in five years?<br />In the same place. But I like this place.<br /><br />14. Where's your birthmark?<br />I have two, actually: one on my thigh, the other on my chest.<br /><br />15. What are you doing this weekend?<br />After this? Nooooothing.<br /><br />16. What is the best flavor of Jello?<br />Lime. :)<br /><br />17. How tired are you?<br />I'm not, surprisingly. I am...contented.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-17017776339953208062011-03-05T21:15:00.000-08:002011-03-05T21:41:20.569-08:00W is for ... Women's (History Month)<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://libphp2006.fullerton.edu/blogs/news/files/2010/01/womens_history_month11.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 285px; height: 400px;" src="http://libphp2006.fullerton.edu/blogs/news/files/2010/01/womens_history_month11.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />Looking in my planner today (I haven't done that in awhile, apparently) and in itsy bitsy writing, it told me that March was <a href="http://www.nwhp.org/whm/index.php">Women's History Month</a>. Each year there's a different theme, and the theme for this year is:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Our History is Our Strength<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">If you check online, there should be activities listed for your area. If there isn't, and you'd like to plan something, here are some ideas to get you started:<br /><br /><ol><li><span><span class="ms-rteCustom-Normal">Organize a fundraiser with the proceeds going to a women’s group or shelter. </span></span></li><li><span><span class="ms-rteCustom-Normal">Ask your foremothers about their stories. Talk to your mother, aunts, or grandmother about their lives as women. Capture the stories on audio or videotape, or write them down before they are lost forever. Share these stories with your children, your local newspaper or radio station, historical society, or archives. </span></span></li><li><span><span class="ms-rteCustom-Normal">Your local public library or archives is an important resource for community history.<br />Urge them to create a display on the contributions of women to history, or hold a series of readings on books by or about women. </span></span></li><li><span><span class="ms-rteCustom-Normal">Read about important cases in the advancement of women, such as the <a href="http://www.histori.ca/peace/page.do?pageID=276">Persons Case</a> in 1929 (that's a Canadian case, I'm sure there are similar ones from where you're from.)</span></span></li></ol><br />I know that, if I had the chance and was home, I'd do something that my dad and I have wanted to do for years now: I'd drive and visit my Grandma Chris, who just celebrated her 95 birthday this January, and ask her to tell her stories. Her stories about growing up in the 'unsettled' West, about the changes that she's seen, the things she's gone through, and how the world has changed. I've heard the stories and have seen the pictures before, but, we have yet to write or record anything, which is one of the biggest faults that my family has done by my Grandma.<br /><br />So, I think I'm going to add that on my list of things to do this summer: spend time with Grandma Chris and record her history, my Grandpa's history, my dad's history, <span style="font-style: italic;">my</span> history.<br /><br /><blockquote>How will you celebrate Women's History Month?</blockquote><br /></div></div><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-15642493192073874412011-03-01T20:11:00.000-08:002011-03-01T20:42:35.888-08:00W is for ... (Noah & the) Whale<div style="text-align: left;"> So, today the new <a href="http://www.myspace.com/noahandthewhale">Noah & the Whale</a> album, Last Night on Earth, was<a href="http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DRBO4X6Q"> leaked</a>. I don't know if you realize how much I absolutely adore Noah & the Whale. And by adore, I mean <span style="font-style: italic;">absolutely love</span>. I can't actually remember when I first stumbled upon them, but I've adored them for ages. I haven't had a chance to listen to the new album yet, being at the hostel without my headphones and all. Instead, I give you one of my favourite songs off their first album: Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down.<br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe title="YouTube video player" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hztIyihRFq8" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="480"></iframe></div><br /><br />I got onto a bus last night at 9:10 p.m. and arrived in Ottawa 11:45 p.m. Cabbed it to the hostel and got into bed fairly early, considering when I got in. Alarm went off at 8:00 a.m. and found where I was supposed to go to meet up with the Forum group, HOWEVER, I still ended up lost for an hour and a half before I realized I needed to go <span style="font-style: italic;">one more street over</span> to find the place I want to go.<br /><br />The four hours that I spent with the group went really well, even though I need to figure out how to make sure my camera's taking pictures that are in focus and clear. It's starting to irritate me. Though, I've noticed that this really only happens with my kit lens, so maybe I should just stick on my 50mm fixed and work with that. Especially since I left my 70mm-200mm f/2.8 at home, which I'm now regretting like whoa. Ah well.<br /><br />So, I should really head to bed, especially since I'm hoping to meet up with the group at 8:15 a.m. at Capital Hill tomorrow morning.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />P.S. I'm almost positive it's against the political game rules for a politician to be that good looking. <span style="font-style: italic;">I'm just saying</span>.Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-6157954721833461252011-02-21T18:10:00.000-08:002011-02-21T18:26:04.011-08:00D is for ... (Jack &) Diane<div style="text-align: left;">Some of my favourite memories include driving with my dad down the Saskatchewan back roads, with a bag of Spitz between us and John Mellencamp blaring from the stereos. Literally blaring. And my dad singing, which doesn't really happen that often. Out of any of the songs that we listened to, Jack & Diane was the one that we hit repeat on the most often. Well, that and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=malnd19Ttyk">Little Pink Houses</a>.<br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe title="YouTube video player" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-uq-Pf13HQo" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="480"></iframe><br /><br /><br /></div><br />Today was our day off for Family Day, and my roommate and I have been bumming around all day, sleeping in, watching TV, and I made English Toffee Bars. I've also been searching for hostels in Ottawa for next week. I think <a href="http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Ottawa-Backpackers-Inn/Ottawa/11890">I've found one</a>, and am hoping to book a spot as soon as I find out whether or not my friend is coming with. Definitely excited for this trip, and hoping it'll end up alright, with pieces falling into place. :)<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-82547133231186494012011-02-17T07:42:00.000-08:002011-02-19T15:20:20.020-08:00D is for ... Destination (Ottawa)This is a post about a week in the making, shame on me. School's been keeping me running a lot more this past week (might have to do with me slacking off a bit last week...oops!). But! This week is almost done, I've caught up on (the majority of) my work, and I figured I could spare a few minutes putting a post together.<br /><br />Last Saturday I went with my roommates to Ottawa for the day. Every winter (so I've been told/read), they have a whole list of events and fun things planned. So, my roommates and I went and ventured and walked (a lot!), and, generally, just had fun.<br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_oJEcQkJTK5-hUj1Cx4C_jA1AE_tNXrHogB47d7KJnJCl6DYj49kAWl8O6hZ8jyCd7kYObWQua-gBR_ptafOTxXF7fJFMpqVdJC9PIhv9G8I72hdSZeXI01Hn2a-EwYU9ZU09Z1wHHT9b/s1600/IMG_3466.jpg"><img style="display: block; DalaRandomly heard about <a href="http://dalagirls.com/">Dala</a> through my friend <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/vhs_penguin/">Topher</a>, quite randomly, actually. But, because the two of us (and by that I mean: he) are <strike>is</strike> always talking music, it never really registered and got tossed to the back of my mind.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">That is until oh, a month ago, and I was scrolling through <a href="http://community.livejournal.com/indie_exchange/">Indie_Exchange</a> and saw that someone had uploaded all of their albums for my listening pleasure. Of course, as soon as I saw that they were a.) Canadian and b.) from Toronto, I was all over that like peanut butter on jelly. And since then, it's been a lovely relationship of me hitting repeat on a good portion of their songs. However, none of them as many as this one:<br /></div><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe title="YouTube video player" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fZrSqvsSuyU" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="480"></iframe><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">"Why?" some of you may be asking. Well, for one: the harmony is absolutely<span style="font-style: italic;"> stunning </span>on this song. The first time I heard it, I just sat back and gaped. (Which is kind of a big deal for me, to be honest. I'm not a huge gaper. Not a really attractive look for me.) And then I hit the repeat button. Again. And again. And again. Then I realized why: because, not only was it beautiful, but the story behind it was something that I could (partially) relate to. At least the beginning part:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><blockquote>"He's got life/that comes and goes/calls me up when he's down/what he'll be no one knows."</blockquote><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">It reminds me so much (wow, not even funny how much) of one of my best friends, Travis. A guy with so much potential it almost literally blows my mind away, but, he's a little slow in realizing how much he could do, if only he tried.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">"She might love/but she'll never meet/try to catch her in the eye/but she's staring at her feet."<br /></div></div></div></div></div><br />And then that line, that line, I think, describes me. Very well, or at least, very closely.<br /><br />I think that's what most of our favourite songs have: small bits that remind us of ourselves, or the people that are important to us, and that's what keeps us going back and re: listening: the human element within each of those favourite songs of ours.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-42822293212027711112011-01-31T21:59:00.000-08:002011-01-31T22:05:29.424-08:00Y is for ... I was brave and it stabbed me in the back. I told you that I liked you. In the middle of the night (2:19 am, to be exact), while I was laying on my stomach and you were laying on your back and your roommates were stumbling drunk outside your door.<br /><br /> The beginning: we met September 5, 2010. When we weren't in class, we spent almost every moment (waking and asleep) together. Watching movies (X-Men, Whip It, (500) Days of Summer), listening to music (City and Colour, The Black Keys, Death From Above 1979), and talking. I haven't opened to anyone like that in a long time (over a year). You made me laugh and for the first time since <em>him</em>, I felt special. (It's not a feeling I get to experience a lot, that's something I haven't told you). Then, the last week of October happened and because of your parents, you bailed on a trip that I was really looking forward to. So, for November and that first week and a half of December, <strike>we</strike> I skirted <strike>each other </strike> you in the hallway. B kept asking me why <em>I didn't just tell you already</em>, because <em>obviously we were perfect for each other</em>. And you wouldn't spend so much time with me if you didn't have feelings for me. Because you're the nice guy.<br /><br /> We came back from the holidays and it's been twenty days of us being constantly in each other's company and I wondered why we stopped last semester. What happened to us? So, after being told by everyone (it sounds like blame displacement, it's not. It's fact.), I finally brought up the courage, and I told you. (You were the second guy I said, "I like you," to. And the first one I said it to in person. The first guy dated my sister instead. I guess I'm moving up in the world.)<br /><br /> You'd talked about your ex-girlfriend. I never got a name, and last night you told me it was because, that way, you could get away with talking about her and I wouldn't know. You don't love her, not like that, not anymore. And you know it sounds stupid, but, it's like you're waiting, for a chance, a <u><em>chance</em></u>, that maybe, one day, it'll work out again. Funny how, the information I was patient about and didn't push you about, was the stuff that made me want to bolt from your bed and throw up. But I didn't.<br /><br /> "I'm sorry."<br /> "What do you have to be sorry for?"<br /><br /> You didn't answer after that, and I rolled over, my hand clenching the pillow, trying my hardest to pleaseZeusIcan't<em>crynotyet</em> and managed to sleep. I bolted at quarter to nine (I've never done that, by the way, Fantasia's still there. I won't be picking it up.). And I've cried twice today. It's a record, really. I'm the emotional one. It's disgusting, really. But I am. My sister and roommate both think I need to show you that I'm surviving without you (I will, I always do.), but, in all honesty, I want you to see that, maybe without knowing, you broke me. I can't blame you for that, but that doesn't erase that it's still a fact.<br /><br /> I waited three months to tell you how I felt. And everyone thought I was stupid, that we were just 'turtle love', taking too long to acknowledge what was fact. We took pictures together (no one gets to take mine, and yet you've taken dozens), we were going to watch <u>Beauty & the Beast </u>together (it's our favourite Disney movie), you downloaded <u>Tangled</u> for me, and you let me read you<a href="http://leloveimage.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> Le Love</a> before falling asleep. Before we'd fall asleep at night, we'd spend hours talking (I'm realizing how much of it was about <em>her</em>), and I told you all that stupid irrelevant stuff because you asked.<br /><br /> Last night you said all your female friends hate her, that it's not fair. I can agree to both sides. My first thought was that I wanted to shake her. Now, I just want to ask, "Why would you let him go?" because it was the biggest mistake she's made, I can say that without hesitation, reservation, or discrimination.<br /><br /> I want to be mad at you. I really do. But I can't. And that almost hurts as much. I'll have to see you tomorrow. We're in the same course, and while we're not in the same section, running into each other is destined to happen. I'd say I'd deserve it, falling for someone like you, but I don't. I really, really don't.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"> "& then he said, 'I'm sorry, but I've found my soulmate. & it's not you.'"</div><br /> Funny, that's been my favourite quote for a long, long time. And even now, I still find it as heartbreakingly beautiful as the first time I heard it.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-89793473780293053802011-01-28T12:36:00.000-08:002011-01-28T12:56:13.526-08:00Y is for ... YelleI know, lots of music posts lately. I apologize. However! This one (I hope!) is one you've never really heard about.<br /><br />I first heard <a href="http://www.myspace.com/iloveyelle">Yelle</a> in the summer of 2008 while I was in Quebec. My group and I ended up heading off with our monitor one evening to one of the many festivals that Quebec has during the summer (trust me, if I could spend an entire summer simply going and taking photographs of festivals, I would). We watched her show for a bit and when I saw her album for sale, I hesitated, but because of funds, didn't end up buying it. Fast forward two and a half years and I've had her album for awhile and love it.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Y99UqvgCmE8" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="480"></iframe><br />(for a version with lyrics, head <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZJ0M0W6oXs">here</a>)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I love how fun this video is! That yellow smiley shirt she wears at the beginning? Adorable! Actually, let's be honest, almost <span style="font-style: italic;">every </span>outfit in this video is lust worthy. And those shoes? *g* I want them in my life. Honestly, she reminds me a little bit of Katy Perry. Take that as you will.<br /><br />Well, it's Fridaaaaaay! (It's about time!) I have a few things to shoot this weekend, only one assignment due this week, and a movie date for Saturday, as well as two story ideas that I'm currently shaping. How <span style="font-style: italic;">can't</span> I be feeling happy? :)<br /></div></div><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5266339284201462918.post-89099267709199836582011-01-24T07:18:00.000-08:002011-01-24T07:37:23.074-08:00Y is for .... YirumaI really don't remember how I happened across this song. I think it was in a fanmix that someone had made at one point and that I nabbed. However, it's definitely been a song to hit on repeat over and over again.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/F-4wUfZD6oc" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="480"></iframe></div><br /><br />This song's wonderful for studying and putting together photos, or else curling up with a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Brooklyn-Novel-Colm-Toibin/dp/1439138311">new book</a> and drinking lemon tea. Though, time for relaxing and reading will be put off this week. I have three business owners to talk to about a multimedia project on and a news/lighting photo to do. The temperature outside (at least -20˚C here, and with any wind, it'll be colder) definitely doesn't instill the urge to venture out, but hopefully the stories and the pictures make it worth it.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 189px; height: 71px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yfiwBLC1_TVeXMbORohiOaV7kZlORZs6rrzXOxDr62lI8uOZlpIaR-LH25f84PF3FftVD7NuK9-DpiEr5ekFFl24C6glUwxDfDHqsmXgLqsDxKU2oGcZAbx8qPlP6SfQC_qdPxR4fhwO/s400/yours.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Yiellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13182612335215772691noreply@blogger.com0
