M is for ... Merlispn

A month ago, during a Supernatural Friending Meme, I met the lovely Callowyn. Awesomeness ensued and we came up with Merlispn. Merlispn is a crossover crack!verse between the fandoms of Supernatural and Merlin and full of...well.....crack.

We now have our own Merlispn site, with a link to the conversation we had that started the whole thing (beware: there are spoilers), links to all three parts that have so far been written.

It's a lot of fun. Our readers have all given us positive responses and Callowyn and I have had a blast and a half coming up with everything that will be happening. There are also other fics in the works with different pairings and the fun is only beginning!

Check it out!

M is for ... Marian (Hill)

I can't find anything on Marian Hill other than the short blurb that she posted at her bio at eastwing.org:

"My work is collaged from many, many small fragments of paper. I cut up magazines and books then reassemble them into my images using old fashioned glue and scalpel blades. This technique is intricate and time consuming, but I love the textual quality that it produces."

I received a lovely card for my birthday that portrayed a piece of her art and new she would be a wonderful artist to share with everyone. Lack of information, however, means that all I have to share is this link, which will take you to the previously mentioned eastwing.org and a collection of her art. I'm sad that there wasn't more I could share with you all. She has some downright beautiful art.

M is for ... Merlin

I'm a huge Merlin fan. Not just the T.V. show (which, yes, I'm a geek over, no matter how 'out of legend' people may complain it is). No, I'm a fan of any form of it. I've devoured books upon books with any hint of Arthurian legend in them. Movies? I've grabbed anything I can get my hands on.

However, this is about Merlin, the T.V. show. Because I'm just that geeky and I absolutely adore the show. BBC just puts out some fantastic shows, and this is no exception. I won't go into massive amounts of detail, because I think the show is worth watching for yourselves, and this is only my few favourite things about the show.

Colin Morgan does an amazing job playing the dorky, loveable, and secretive warlock. Playing opposite as the haughty yet understanding Prince Arthur of Camelot is Bradley James. The two of them do such a good job acting off of each other. Everything just flows with them and they seem very in tune with each other (which is probably why the slash fandom is huuge!)

Katie McGrath plays the gorgeous and kindhearted Morgana, who lives in Camelot with her dead father's best friend, Uther Pendgragon (Arthur's father), who is played by Anthony Head. Both characters are incredibly intense and argumentative. They both want to do the best for the people around them, but their idea of what's right are often on the opposite sides of the spectrum.

The lovely and friendly, ball of sunshine Gwen is played by Angel Coulby. Arthur's romantic interest at the moment, even the Arthur/Merlin shippers can't deny how adorable and loveable she is. She's everyone's friend and tries to take care of everyone around her, without thinking of what will happen to herself. She gets along well with Gaius, played by Richard Wilson, who takes Merlin in after his mother sends him to Camelot because of his special and amazing wizarding powers. The kindly old medicine man of the castle, he's been Uther's friend for many years, and cares for each of the younger people around him.

The show is just...amazing. Here's a more detailed list of characters and explanations, what they do in the show, etc. There are piles of fan works around the internet for you to find: fanfic, fanmixes, fan art, etc. A quick Google search provides a person with a plethora of links.

Who's your favourite Merlin character?

M is for ... Megan McIsaac

Megan's blog is a beautiful thing filled with pictures, thoughts, poems, songs, and other little tidbits that you can spend hours perusing and finding special gems.

Of course, that's what I'll be wishing I could do while, instead, I will be figuring out whether a Chem equation is oxidized or reduced. :(

M is for ... Matt (Duke)

Once again, I know it's not Monday, it's actually closer to Wednesday more than anything by now. School's been kicking my ass lately. Tis that time of the year, eh? Only fourteen more days and then I'm done high school! Scary guys, scary. But exciting! :)

Annnnd, onto the music. Khy also introduced me to Matt Duke via his myspace page, and I immediately fell in love with Rabbit.

His voice is just brilliant; it invokes so many different emotions and I can listen to it on repeat for ages. The simplicity of the guitar in the background with his voice is just magic. Another favourite is Tidal Waves.

I also listen to this one on repeat like a madwoman. He's just...his voice gets me. His lyrics are wonderful and the guitar. If I ever make a mixtape (which, hopefully will be sometime this summer), both these songs will be on them.

What's your favourite Matt Duke song?

M is for ... My Milk (Toof)

This is the most adorable blog. Ever. I've been a follower for the past year and ickle and Lardee are pretty much my heroes. They have the most amusing adventures and Inhae does an amazing job making/shooting/creating the stories.

Started on March 18, 2009, Inhae has a fairly large fanbase and over 50 stories about ickle and Lardee. Here's her first post. Lardee was introduced on May 18, 2009. Come say hi!These are some of my favourites: 1, 2, 3, & 4.

What's your favourite ickly & Lardee story?

M is for ... (Jim) Moray

I 'found' Jim Moray about two years ago. I had his song Lord Bateman -points down- on my iPod from a mix that I had downloaded at some point and one day I listened to it and just...fell in love. Even as my music tastes have altered since then, he's stayed on my list of favourite artists.

Jim Moray's voice is amazing. He has the perfect story teller's voice, which is what folk music is. Some of those stories have been told for generations and have their roots in the lore and mystery of the country of their origin.

Folk music is, in my opinion, important to keep around. People like Loreena McKennitt, Jim Moray, Joni Mitchell, and a whole list of others keep stories around through their music that is important.
