F is for ... (John) Fluevog

I really need to get new shoes. My pitiful shoe collection is not only pitiful, but unimaginative. While there's no way in Kansas that I can afford a pair of Fluevog's (no, not even on sale. C'est la vie.). But! They are still lovely to look at.

I only know about Fluevog's through a random walk into their store in Vancouver when my friend Fran and I were wandering around Gas Town while I was visiting in February. The store was interesting and the boy behind the counter (who only came 'round to talk to Fran, she has that effect on the male (and, often times, female) population) was, as I remember, the cause of me tripping over my feet. However, before we left, I grabbed one of their 'business cards', which, really, is more a post card with a small paragraph of their history on the back. Obviously it was intriguing enough for me to a.) keep it almost a year and b.) remember it.

On my Fluevog maybeoneday list are these pairs (along with the above pair)

What pair do you wish you owned? Or, which pair do you own?

And, I am off to finish getting ready to head out to this Halloween party. We're leaving in about forty-five minutes and I still have a fairly lengthy to-do list to complete before I'm ready to leave! Ah!

I hope all you Alphabeters have a wonderfully spooky Halloween!

F is for ... fun.

I don't actually remember how I stumbled upon fun., it was through a blog post of some sort or another, where the writer gave the link to youtube and commented on how much they'd been listening to the song. Always game for new music, I clicked and voila. My love for fun. was born. I've listened to the album several times through already, with The Gambler as my top play. I don't even let it hit the end of the song before I re-start it. It's such a fun song with lyrics that I fell in love with in heartbeat.

For your listening pleasure:

Annnnd I am off to bed. I have a to-do list to complete before I leave tomorrow evening for the highly anticipated Halloween party. Which I need to find a costume for. :/ Apparently I like to leave things last minute? But a good bedtime sounds like a good plan to me. I have my bed waiting, with a cup of tea and writing paper. Writing letters always calms me down. Always. Mail in general soothes me. :)

F is for ... Fine (Little Day)

As it's reading break and everyone escaped home, or at least away from the college, I've been spending hours by myself. Now, I enjoy spending time by myself, most of the time. However, this time around, I've been getting restless and easily distracted. (Seriously, I just got up and wandered away for a good few minutes before running back when I heard Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls and needed to restart it).

However, one of the things that I've been perusing, undistracted, for awhile now is Fine Little Day, written by Swedish photographer and designer, Elisabeth. You can tell she's a photographer because that's what her blog is: pictures galore with a few words explaining them at the end of the post. While both her pictures and her words are simple and to the point, their beauty is in their simplicity and it's what I love so much about her blog; she points out the simple things that make life life and finds joy and excitement in what others might describe as complacent day to day things.

Now, my attention span has, once again, told me it's time to find something new to do. I am off to go make Lazy Man Cabbage Rolls and figure out what I'm going to wear as my Halloween costume to my friend Brad's Halloween party on Saturday!

F is for ... (William) Fitzsimmons

While I keep telling myself that I'm going to stay on top of updating and things online, it seems like the more I say it, the less often it happens. School's definitely been keeping me more than slightly busy with all the shooting that I've been doing. I enjoy it, most of the time. The whole 'talking to strangers' thing isn't rocking my boat as much. We were in Ottawa yesterday and today (I got to see my sister for the first time in two months!) and even though I was surrounded by strangers who would never see me again, I was still hesitant to take pictures of them. I've heard it's just something that a person gets used to. I'm hoping it'll happen sooner rather than later for me.

However, while I'm stressing out over taking random people's pictures, William Fitzsimmons calms me down. While his music might not be described as the most upbeat and spirit lifting music, it's soothing none the less, something I can always be sure will bring me back to an equilibrium.

I have both his albums on my top rated in my iTunes, and both of them are golden. Out of the two of them, The Sparrow & the Crow is definitely my favourite. I can't even think about picking a favourite song off of the album. I can't. So I'm going to let iTunes do it for me. My most listened to song is After Afterall. I leave you with his wonderful voice crooning to you.

F is for ... Flickr

I have finally caved in and gotten myself a flickr account. Yes, I'm late to the party. While I may not have the most riveting photostream or anything, looking at other people's pictures is more than half the fun. One of my favourite people is Topher. While I might be biased because we're going to school together, I know what I like, and his photography is certainly that. My favourites are all over the board and I add to the list on a regular basis.
So, Alphabeters, who are your favourite flickr'rs? What photostreams do you haunt on a daily basis, waiting for updates? What's your favourite flickr photo? Drop a line and share the wealth. :) And while you're at it, post your account. I'd love to see what's in your world.
